We're the Only Ones "A Few Bad Apples" Enough

Two Spring Lake police sergeants have been arrested and their department has been stripped of its criminal investigation duties...

He said he suspects senior officers of lying and directing other officers to fabricate facts in police reports. [More]
Not that it would be fair to tar all Spring Lake "Only Ones" with that brush...wait a minute...I guess it would be...

Well, shoot. Now what excuse do we use?

Ileto v. Glock

Under the terms of the PLCAA, the claims brought here, bythe victims of a criminal who shot them, against a federally licensed manufacturer and a federally licensed seller of firearms must be dismissed. But the claims brought against an unlicensed foreign manufacturer of firearms may proceed. [More]
The opinion, filed yesterday, in online.

Here's the statement from NSSF.

The Legal Community Against Violence, which had filed an Amicus Curiae brief in support of the plaintiffs, had this to say.

Women, Stop Watching Oprah and Learn to Love Guns [More]
Women's TV and magazines do seem especially brainless. I don't get it, I guess because the women in my life agree with me.

And that's not to give men a pass. Spike TV and the like represent the antithesis of any definition of "manliness" that really matters.

I know some people who won't have a television in the house. I don't go that far. I enjoy certain things on it.

To me, like with guns, it boils down to personal choices and responsibility.

Quick, Everybody, Into the Sphinx!

If a gunman were loose on the University of South Florida campus, students would be warned by eight sirens that have been installed across campus. [More]
Might as well make your sense of hearing utterly useless at detecting approaching Morlocks, since Eloi can't do anything about it anyway.

What's in Your Cranium?

Distinctive brain patterns could become the latest subject of biometric scanning after EU researchers successfully tested technology to verify identities for security checks. [More]
And coming soon: Wave scans that tell us if you're thinking "properly". That way, we can find out if you're one of those "rightwing extremists" we need to put on our "no buy" list.

Or, as the Keepers of Talos IV warned:
Wrong thinking is punishable. Right thinking will be as quickly rewarded. You will find it...an effective combination

We will accomplish our mission by a peaceful march in Washington DC, the United States Capitol, supported by satellite marches to State Capitols and smaller cities all across America. [More]

The Mexican Turnover

President Barack Obama's plan to redirect federal funds to the southwest border could mean Orange County stands to lose nearly $6.5 million in funds to house illegal immigrants with criminal convictions – while the state could lose $110 million. [More]
See, if you create the perfect convergence of circumstances and dependencies, you can get away with just about anything.

Any bets the uptick in crime victimization won't be used to demand further disarming of you and me?

Why, when I think "redirect," do I think of Three Card Monte? Maybe it has something to do with this story reminding me of the Mexican Turnover...

Un Espectáculo de Perro y Caballo

So what’s going on here?

One former ATF agent, who also asked that his name not be used, suggests one possibility: “This is all a dog and pony show.” [More]

Told you so.

I may just do a GRE column on this tomorrow.

An "Aspiring Rapper"

Gilmore, who also copped to a stickup of the Hungry Howie's restaurant, told police that he thought the robberies would provide him the kind of reputation he apparently believes is required in the rap world. [More]
If only they'd disarmed you and me, that clerk would be unharmed and this disadvantaged young man would not have ruined his life.

Let's hope he straightens out and gets that music career back on track!

Gun Law-Related Stories Need to Substantiate Claims

Two stories came out yesterday that are spreading quickly through the gun-rights activist community. They both make some pretty definitive claims which I think need to be fleshed out. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column looks at some unsubstantiated claims.

I'm flat-out not buying Politico's report that NRA will support getting rid of the Tiahrt Amendment. As for the Infowars story, the guy may be right, but he doesn't cite a source.

We will see.
