I wonder if the situation were reversed and the victim had used that excuse if he could count on the same outcome:

David - PoliceOne is a HORRIBLE website for source info. Unless I am mistaken, you have to prove you're an Only One just to be able to read the comments of the exalted ones. I suspect it is because the discussions among themselves show the true nature of the US vs. THEM attitudes, and how our lives don't matter as long as they make it home at the end of shift....

Jeff Cooper once showed me a great and important kindness. That's the way I've found it to be with strong men of character worthy of personal respect: Kindness when appropriate is part of the total package, and "What's in it for me?" doesn't enter the equation.

In re Police One: I've remarked on their "Only One" exclusivity in the past, but that does not invalidate the content of the article.
