So, without a signature, the affidavit could have been scribbled by anyone, Law Imposement or not.

What if this was NOT a brutal murder case? Does this precedent still apply?

What if Johnny Law and Deputy Dog wanted to do a search for, say... illegal firearms? Someone somewhere could scribble up an affidavit, attesting to the "facts" of the case, nobody must sign it and swear to its truthfulness. Then a Judge may issue a warrant to search a man's home (and ruin a man's life) based on a notion to which nobody has sworn? And this is permissible?

But they gently pat the head of the Law Imposement officer who did this sloppy work, and say, "That's OK, you meant well..."
