Welcome to the party, pal-ettes. [More]

Nine Lives Had Elfego Baca

... an intense gun battle in which law enforcement unleashed more than 500 rounds. [More]
There's an "Only Ones" title in there somewhere, but the amount of ammo expended reminded me more of a post I saw the other day that in turn made me recall the TV of my youth, back before Disney was totally corrupted.

Anybody else remember this?

We're the Only Ones Darwin-Awarded Enough

Darwin said having the head of a state agency focused on providing services to the poor ... carrying a gun and badge “does seem strange, yes.” [More]
Yeah, whoever heard of needing to defend yourself against that demographic?

The larger point of a bureaucracy being armed to the teeth evokes the words of Mr. Mason:
Who are the militia? They consist now of the whole people, except a few public officers.
And yes, funny that word used to describe much lower numbers collected by private citizens was never brought up...

The Replacements

One in three babies born in UK last year had foreign parent – as sky-high immigration fuels population boom ... The figures showed nine in ten London newborns had at least one parent from overseas [More]
Soon, the question will no longer be "Would You Send a Gun to Defend a British Home?"

And yes, give it some time. We ain't seen nothin' yet.

Thank goodness none of this has anything to do with that "single issue."

Right, Grover? Wayne? Chris...

The New Pink Panther Party

I wouldn't be inclined to offer a center mass target, but what do I know? [More]

My biggest question is if it has a "Hello Kitty" graphic.

For Authorized Propagandists Who Want to Keep Eating

We should not limit ourselves to letting such groups define themselves, and instead should report their actions, associations, history and positions to reveal their actual beliefs and philosophy, as well as how others see them. [More]
So ignore the bylaws and practices of a group like, say, Oath Keepers, and instead parrot SPLC "hate watch" talking points.

My Kind of Town

My kind of razzaatazz and it has all that jazz... [More]

Forget it Jake, it's Chi-Town.

Sounds like California needs more "common sense gun safety laws."

Cultural Appropriation

Running Over Identity Boundaries

The purpose of the class is to promote "intercultural leadership" and transform students into "actively engaged, socially just global citizen/leaders." [More]
I'll see your microgagression and raise you a car and knife attack.

It's a head-shaker that there's a place at the trough for "academics" pushing such crap to bury their snouts in. But looking at such classes in terms of practical value to "students" misses the point.

Those aren't the ones intended to benefit.

ISIS to CAR BOMB Europe as it floods continent with fighters after losing territory [More]
Canary in a coal mine, eh?

I'm sure there's a lesson to be learned here -- but what?

Several lessons, actually, including a big one about cause and effect.  And it looks like our majority "leaders" have learned none of them.

How is this not an impeachable offense? A lot of damage can be done in 48 days.

And how is it with all their arcane rules and procedures they can't immediately put a halt to funding and get an injunction?

Putting the 'Rule' in 'Home Rule'

In her judgment, Circuit Court Judge Joan L. Moriarty cited the city’s home rule charter. The Missouri Constitution grants any city that has adopted a charter as its form of government “all the powers” the state Legislature can grant. [More]
Which appears to mean a city with such a charter could override preemption on gun laws, no?  I wonder how many state constitutions have such a provision, and if the judge's interpretation is correct or subject to being overturned on appeal...

I'd be interested in seeing someone with knowledge weigh in on this. I've sent this to some lawyers I know for a qualified read.  You can do the same, or chime in if you are one.

We'll meet back in "Comments" if anybody finds anything out.

Persistence

[I]f you have two groups, one of which refuses to do what it must in order to persist through time, and another group which does, the latter will inherit the Earth.  In fact, the Earth will always be inherited by those groups who take the effort to persist. [More]
That's the reason I rail against "profiles in apathy."

We need to do more than believe. We need to do. Today. And tomorrow.
