Never Letting a Crisis Go to Waste

HB 219: Assault Weapons and Large-Capacity Magazines [More]
Mr. and Mrs. Florida, turn 'em all in?

Anybody from Florida know if this is just noise or if it stands a chance?

Jeff Sessions: DACA Deal ‘Last Real Opportunity’ to Enact Immigration Agenda That ‘Serves National Interest [More]
All needed laws and enforcement mechanisms already exist.

Make a deal for government to obey the law? And they won't alter that as well?

What do you think, Darth?

It's Not About Guns

For the most part I agree with this guy.  [More]

I'd argue against "licensing the kid." I did not need the state to get into my business and authorize development-appropriate access.

But he does make some good points.

As Simple as a Swab Test?

Well I'm totally out of my depth on this one. I'm looking at the intrusiveness aspect, and aside from not seeing any clear fedgov authority to involve itself in this area, I'd think this would be something medical practice and pharmaceutical company insurers would want to require as a matter of liability protection.

Anybody have a clue about the contraindication assumptions?

And of course, due process protections would need to apply.

Timing is Everything

They say the timing was insensitive after the deadly Florida school shootings. [More]
When would they say it would be a good time...?

Oh, never?

So that's just a transparent lie?

I'd be interested in seeing if those "moms" really "had no idea." Because if the raffle has been an annual tradition, it doesn't seem all that credible that they'd just show up and be "shocked... shocked." This seems more like a premeditated "fake news" stunt that CBS 13 Sacramento is glad to be a part of.

Brown's Mom

When Brown's mom, Candice Brown, president of the Boulder County 4-H adult advisory committee, learned that the 4-H-led Boulder County Shooting Sports Council was approved to host a tack show table exhibiting .22 caliber rifles and pistols as well as shotguns and archery equipment, she worried about the message the new display would send to youth. [More]
Were Brown being threatened, one wonders what Brown's mom would be prepared to do about it.

We're the Only Ones Getting Off Enough

Heading into trial, the case against Cichy appeared solid, given the other defendants’ admissions of guilt and the evidence, which also included cocaine confiscated from a drug dealer the men allegedly worked with and secretly taped audio recordings of discussions about the scheme... [More]

Kind of Like Sanctuary Schools?

Because back in 2013, the Broward County School Board adopted a program where they don’t relay information to police about troubled students. [More]
I have to admit to having reservations about always calling in police, who have been known to bring consequences of their own. In this case, however, a threat threshhold appears to have been reached.

With 'Republicans' Like These, Who Needs Democrats?

So the answer is to embrace the disarmament agenda?

It doesn't surprise me to see NewsMax hosting such surrender sentiment.

Grassroots or Astroturf?

The Sword of Allah

Imagine how shocked they’d be at the prospect of legally armed Muslims living next door to them.  [More]
"Legally armed" has meaning that extends to lawful conduct. And membership requires adhering to the Bylaws (or should, which is on Fairfax).

Medhi Hasan here is projecting prejudices of his own.

Perhaps the question should be how "the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity" are secured by admitting millions of people who hold beliefs inimical to the whole Bill of Rights...? And how those who agree with him would fare trying to exercise them in the lands from which those millions came...?

It Depends Upon What the Meaning of the Term ' Abridging the Freedom of Speech' Is

We've seen what they do with "infringe."  Why should "abridge" be any different?
